Our Goals
|
This program is for children and youth aged 6 -18 years who are deaf or hard of hearing and who live in the Edmonton area.
The community supports we offer are tailored to meet the needs of individual youth or families. Ideas for these supports are a result of on-going consultation between Connect Society staff, parents and youth. Community supports programming can be short or long term depending on each situation. If you are interested in any of the following supports, please contact Connect Society.
SUPPORT TO YOUTHYouth meet on a regular basis one on one with staff who are trained in youth and child development and proficient in sign language. Together they address a variety of issues that have been identified by the youth and their families. Mentorship and guidance is offered in the context of a positive trusting relationship. |
Trained staff can make regular home visits to provide information and support in the areas of parenting, communication skills, and access to community resources and support networks. As well, Connect Society can host workshops and information sessions on topics such as parenting skills, healthy relationships, and communication skills.
