What does Early Intervention do?
We provide support & information to families in a variety of settings
and locations:
- family's home
- parent groups
- playgroups
- and more
Who can we help?
Families who have a child who is:
- under 3 1/2 years of age and has a suspected or diagnosed hearing
loss
- hearing and has a parent(s) who is deaf or hard of hearing
- experiencing delays in other areas of development in addition to
hearing loss

- Visits with your child and family
- Developmental screening
- Developmental activity suggestions
- Speech and language assessments
- Information about Communication choices
- In-home sign language classes
- Child and parent groups
- Referrals and liaison with other agencies relating to your child's
development
- Links to other community health services
- Information about community resources

Our Goals
- To develop partnerships with families, supporting them as they encourage
their children’s development.
- To increase the ability of children who are impacted by hearing loss
to reach their potential.
- To provide confidential and professional support and services to families.

What we want you to know
- We are here to listen and provide encouragement.
- You decide what is most helpful to your family.
- The program can be home-based or provided in groups.
- The Early Intervention Consultant will provide information about
other services in your community.
- The Early Intervention Consultant can assist you to plan your child's
preschool years.
- Participation in the program is voluntary.
- There is no cost for the program

Our Team
The Early Intervention team at Connect Society includes
two Early Intervention Consultants, a Speech Language Pathologist, a Social
Worker and a Program Coordinator. |
