Community Living Support Services

Our Philosophy

Connect Society's Community Living Support Services (CLSS) is committed to the belief that all individuals have the right to actively participate in community life.

Our Goals

Our Services

The CLSS program utilizes a counseling approach with its individuals and their families. Staff possess expertise in the area of deafness and have a professional background in the rehabilitation field. This blend of experience supports the holistic approach of this innovative program. The following information describes our services in more detail.

Fostering Independence

Staff encourage people to strengthen their family connections and to interact appropriately with their peers. we make it our priority to support individuals in developing a greater sense of autonomy and independence.

Offering Practical Support

We often provide life skills training in the individual's home. This could include help with grocery shopping, personal budgeting, social skills, training, and advocacy. It may also mean helping people to access community resources for financial, vocational, and housing needs and for medical requirements.

Encouraging Growth

Staff and  provide individuals with opportunities to develop their language, communication, and social skills by helping them experience life in their own community. as these skills develop, their self-esteem and self-confidence grow. They feel less isolated and more a part of their community. In turn, because of enhanced social and emotional coping skills, they are more likely to be supported by other community services.
