American Sign Language (ASL) Specialist – Part-Time (Calgary)
Position SUMMARY
The ASL Specialist has the primary responsibility for planning and implementing the American Sign Language program of Early Childhood Services. Reporting to and supported by the Program Manager the ASL Specialist plays a key role on the inter-disciplinary team providing early learning programming and services that are responsive to the diversity of the populations we serve.
Conduct
The responsibilities of this position require the application of professional and personal skills in a manner that supports the strategic direction of Connect Society. These responsibilities will be carried out in a manner that reflects the Connect Society Professional Code of Conduct; is congruent with Connect Society philosophies and adheres to the Society’s policies and procedures; particularly with respect to the confidentiality and sensitivity of agency information, both internally and externally.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- American Sign Language (ASL) training
- Native ASL user
- Related course work/experience in child development, special needs, Deafness;
- Current CPR and First Aid; and
- Clear Criminal Record and Intervention Checks.
Hours
HOURS
Up to 10 hours per week, flexible schedule, Monday to Thursday, between 8:30 a.m.– 3:30 p.m.
Compensation
COMPENSATION
- $24-30 per hour, based on education and experience;
