OVERVIEW
Connect Society’s Early Childhood Services Program requires a full-time Educational Assistant to work with preschool and kindergarten children who have hearing loss and/or language delays. The ideal candidate should have basic knowledge of child language development, behavior management skills and experience working with children aged 2 – 6 years. In addition the candidate will need experience working with children with Autism, experience and knowledge around g-tube feeding and previous experience working with children with developmental disabilities is preferred. Position will require lifting and toileting children. Commitment to team work is essential as well as a willingness to be coached. American Sign Language (ASL) would be beneficial but is not required. Greater consideration will be given to candidates with competency in American Sign Language.
Qualifications
• Early Childhood Diploma, or Special Needs Educational Assistant Diploma;
• Related course work/experience in child development, special needs, deafness;
• Current CPR and First Aid; and
• American Sign Language (qualified candidates without American Sign Language will be
considered with the expectation that they will gain competency);
• Clear Criminal Record and Intervention Checks.
Hours
Monday to Thursday 9:00am-2:00pm
Compensation
• $21.00-$22.50 per hour, based on education and experience; and
