Manager of Early Childhood Services (Calgary)

Connect Society requires an energetic and motivated individual to oversee our Early Childhood Services program in Calgary, Alberta. The program focuses on the developmental needs of preschool and Kindergarten aged children who have a range of hearing losses (mild to profound) and/or have Deaf or Hard of Hearing parents. Language enriched environments providing bilingual education in both American Sign Language and spoken English are essential to support the unique language needs of these children.

Understanding of early education and Alberta Education’s expectations related to programming for young children are paramount to the position. Strong leadership and management skills are important to provide the necessary support to a dynamic and talented multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors of Education
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • American Sign Language (ASL) fluency (minimum level 3) or equivalent
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children/families
  • Experience in Early Childhood Services

PREFERRED:

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work professionally across a variety of unique circumstances in a fast paced multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Experience supervising educational staff
  • Knowledge of reporting to government funders and/or related work experience
  • Experience working in a bilingual (ASL & English) environment
  • Budgeting and finance
  • Knowledge related to complex learning needs
  • Self-Starter with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, able to effectively develop relationships with other professionals, and families to strengthening intra and inter agency connections

Additional Requirements:

  • Current certifications in CPR and First Aid
  • Clear criminal record and intervention checks

Hours

28 hours per week

Compensation

 

  • $35.00 – $45.00/hour, based on education and experience
  • 3 weeks paid vacation (Winter & Spring break); summer hours negotiable
