Part-Time Family Support Consultant Calgary

Connect Society’s Family Support Program requires a part-time Family Support Consultant to work with families who have a deaf family member in the Calgary area. The primary role will be to provide families with information, support, and community connections. A family-centered approach will be used to build on families’ strengths and adapt to individual family goals, learning styles and needs. A combination of in-person and remote services are used when working with families. The individual in this role must have a high level of proficiency in American Sign Language. In addition, the successful candidate will be working within a provincial family support team that provides parent group offerings and Family Resource Network capacity building services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Social Work Degree or equivalent
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language
  • Experience working with Deaf and hard of hearing individuals
  • Experience in child development, special needs, deafness, home visitation
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Class 5 driver’s license and use of personal vehicle
  • Current CPR and First Aid; and
  • Clear Criminal Record and Intervention Checks.

Hours

16 hours per week; schedule to be determined in collaboration with supervisor, based on client/family need

Compensation

  • $26.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on education and experience;
