Connect Society’s Early Childhood Services Program requires substitute Educational Assistants in Edmonton to support the learning of preschool children who have hearing loss and/or language delays. The ideal candidate should have basic knowledge of child language development, behaviour management skills and experience working with children aged 3 – 5 years. American Sign Language (ASL) would be beneficial but is not required. Programming is play-based and family-focused, requiring a high level of teamwork within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Therapist Assistant Diploma (Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Major), Early Childhood Diploma, or Special Needs Educational Assistant Diploma;
  • American Sign Language (ASL) is an asset but not required [Connect Society may be willing to provide ASL training for the right candidate];
  • Related course work/experience in child development, special needs, Deafness;
  • Current CPR and First Aid; and
  • Clear Criminal Record and Intervention Checks.

Hours

Program hours are Monday-Thursday 9:00am-2:00pm

Compensation

  • $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on education and experience; and
