Connect Society’s Early Childhood Services Program is advertising for a substitute teaching position. We provide on-site preschool and kindergarten educational programming for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and hearing children who have family members who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Some children have additional learning challenges and developmental delays. The program focuses on child development with an emphasis on developing communication, early literacy and social interaction skills. Programming is play-based and family-focused, requiring a high level of collaboration within an interdisciplinary team that includes teachers, education assistants, speech-language therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapists. This is your opportunity to work with a dynamic and caring group of individuals who work together to support children and their families.

Qualifications

• University Degree in Education;
• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate;
• American Sign Language (qualified candidates without American Sign Language will be considered with the expectation that they will gain competency);
• Related course work/experience in child development, special needs, deafness;
• Current CPR and First Aid; and
• Clear Criminal Record and Intervention Checks.

Hours

Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Work schedule varies upon the needs of the program, available hours up to 28 hours per week

Compensation

• $30.00 – $38.00 per hour, based on education and experience;
