Connect Society’s Early Childhood Services Program requires substitute teachers in Edmonton to support the learning of preschool children. Our children are Deaf or hard of hearing, or have a family member who is Deaf or hard of hearing. The program focuses on child development with an emphasis on language acquisition using a bilingual approach – English and American Sign Language.  Programming is play-based and family-focused, requiring a high level of teamwork within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • American Sign Language (qualified candidates without American Sign Language will be considered with the expectation that they will gain competency)
  • Current CPR and First Aid; and
  • Clear Criminal Record and Intervention Checks.
  • University Degree in Education
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Related course work/experience in child development, special needs, deafness

Hours

Monday to Thursday, between 9:00 a.m.– 2:00 p.m.

Compensation

  • $28.00 per hour;
