At CLSS Group Home, we believe that every individual deserves a safe and welcoming place to call home. That’s why we are thrilled to share the inspiring story of our recent renovation journey, made possible by the incredible support of our community partner, Versatile Developments, and a host of local friends and volunteers.
**A Home with History**
CLSS has been providing support for 24 individuals living in the community, with 4 living in our group home. Established in 1980, our group home has been a place of comfort, love, and cherished memories. In fact, one of our remarkable local residents has called it home for an incredible 42 years!
As time passed, the needs of our residents evolved. Aging in place meant that they required more support within the home to ensure their comfort and safety. Kelly ILkiw, our dedicated Program Manager, noted, “One of our residents has a walker and cannot do the stairs. The floors were all uneven due to floor patchwork, dim lighting, and banged-up walls made this home hard to navigate for residents.”
**A Community United**
Recognizing the need for change, Versatile Developments took the lead in spearheading a transformational project to renovate our entire group home. Their commitment to improving the lives of our residents set the stage for an extraordinary collaboration.
Mogo Electrical Installations fitted our home with brand new lights, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere. Proco Painters generously donated their time to freshen up the walls, breathing new life into the space. Cameron Homes, with their generous donation , allowed us to purchase new furniture, adding a fresh and comfortable touch to the home.
**Community Spirit in Action**
The true magic of this renovation project lies in the unwavering support of our local friends and volunteers who joined us for the heartwarming surprise reveal for our residents. Their dedication and hard work transformed our group home into a fresh, safe, and welcoming space.
Today, thanks to the kindness and generosity of our community partners and volunteers, our group home feels more like home than ever before. Our aging-in-place residents now have a space that not only meets their needs but also fills their hearts with warmth and comfort.
